Alternative or the OG?
We have all heard non-conventional means of dealing with health issues referred to as "alternative" and new. But are they really???
Homeopathy
Tinctures
Herbs
Essential oils
Red light therapy
Castor oil packs
Earthing
These modalities have been around for centuries and been used with great success.
It wasn't until the 1900's when John D Rockefeller saw the potential to make vitamins and medicine from petroleum. The problem was there were too many doctors practicing using natural remedies that were helping and even curing patients; he'd never be able to capitalize on the potential profit with them in the way. In 1910 he, along with the Carnegie Foundation, commissioned Abraham Flexner to visit all the medical schools and evaulate them and report his findings.
His report proposed an entire overhaul to the American medical education, especially the eradication of "dissidents", as a positive thing. Based on this report, Rockefeller and Carnegie restructured medical education in the interest of "public need" which was actually implying their interests were how the public felt as well.
How do you accomplish the changes you want made to the education system? You give lots of funding to the schools who follow your criteria. Many schools who had "alternative" classes such as electromagnetic field therapy, phototherapy, naturopathy and homeopathy were forced to either close, because they would not drop these classes, or comply to keep their accreditation.
To eliminate the competition, all the holistic practitioners who previously were were deemed experts were now wrongly seen as "quacks" because they lacked the "proper" schooling and thus made it easy for Rockefeller to push his petroleum based medicine to the American people based on the "smarter" doctors educated through his medical program. Want to read more? Do a simple search for "Rockefeller, Flexner Report" you'll find tons of information.
All this to say, don't blindly trust the current "experts" who went through medical school just because they have a degree. There are tons of natural modalities that have proven success. Just because they aren't included in the medical journals doesn't mean they aren't valid. Although, in recent years there have been more and more studies done and published at pubmed.gov.
Friends, you know your body best. Listen to it. God designed it to heal itself. If we give it what it needs to nourish it, and avoid giving it what harms it, it will heal itself.
And that list above is only a small sampling of "alternative" options available. These are just a few I've been learning about that have helped me personally. I will be sharing about these, and more, as I keep learning.
Until next time,
Rochelle
